My
husband and I have often dreamed of owning 10 acres and building a home!
Almost
18 years ago, we purchased a large parcel of land with two other families, and
created a country subdivision!
Each
lot was approximately 4.3 acres!
I was
beautiful and we were blessed to raise our children in this area!
Once
they graduated, we felt it was time to down-size, so we sold our home and
purchased a home on a much smaller lot!
Again,
our home was beautiful, but my husband and I missed the country setting!
After
my youngest son and I graduated from college, we decided to sell that home!
When it
finally sold, we didn’t want to rush into anything, so we have been renting for
a couple of years!
Last
summer, we actually purchased a lot (1 ¼ acres) and were planning on building a
home there!
However,
about a month ago, my husband noticed a home for sale in the country! It was on 10 acres, had a large pole building
and a pool!
Hesitant
to even explore this option due to the price, we finally agreed to walk through
the home and see if we liked it!
We
loved the area (it is next to the country subdivision) that we originally lived
in!
My
husband fell in love with pole barn…it is something he has always wanted.
And of
course, I loved the thought of having a pool and lots of family cookouts!
The
house was a little smaller (actually, the perfect size for us)…but to be quite
honest…has been neglected the past several years and would need quite a bit of
work!
The unkempt
home might sway some from purchasing it, but my husband and I have remodeled
every home that we have owned.
We have
built one home, so we are used to getting our hands dirty and turning a house
into home that we love!
After
praying, we decided to make an offer!
After negotiating
with the seller, we finally settled on a price and closed on the property last
week!
The
last few weeks have been spent packing and getting ready for the move!
It’s a
little overwhelming!
Packing
and moving is a job in itself, but we are now trying to decide which home
projects to tackle first and will be living in a “construction zone” for the
next several months!
We are
hoping to tackle inside projects first and the start outside projects next year!
This is
a time when I wish I could just hire Chip and Joanna Gaines…love their
work! (And how quickly things come
together…at least it appears that way on TV J)
Projects
that we are considering include…
Painting
the entire inside of the house (including trim and ceilings)….
We are
definitely not a fan of the color scheme throughout the house (Lots of pinks
and purples)…
New
flooring…
And
possibly, remodeling the kitchen!
I
promise to share pictures of updated pictures if we choose to tackle remodeling
the kitchen!
Though
it’s going to be several months of hard work, I thank God for the beautiful
home this will be!
If you
know me at all, you know that I love spending time with my family!
Nothing
makes me happier than having all of my family together at the same time!
So, I
am hoping this will be a gathering place for lots of get-togethers!!
A home
where meals are shared…holidays are celebrated…and memories are made!
A place
where my grandsons can have fun and lots of sleepovers with Papa and Gammy!
God’s
word says…Delight yourself in the Lord,
and He will give you the desires of your heart…Psalm 37:4.
To delight
in God is a privilege….one that I am so thankful for!
God is
not promising to gratify every whim we ask, but He does look at the desires of
a renewed and sanctified soul!
So, what
are the desires of the heart of a good person?
It is
to know, love and serve God!
We are
to commit our ways to Him!
We should
seek Him…pray…and then trust Him for all things!
God
could have closed the door to us purchasing this home!
And if
that had happened, I would still choose to follow Him…to commit my ways to Him
and be thankful…trusting God and the different plan He had for us!
He
knows what is best for me and my family!
Regardless
of how God answers my prayers…I am choosing to delight myself in the Lord!
Dear Heavenly Father…thank you that we can
come to with all things and trust You for what is best for us! I thank you and praise you for this new
home! May every person that steps onto
this property…and walks through the doors of our home…sense your presence and
love!
