Out of the Mouths of Babes!

We never quite know what our little Emmett will say!!

What we do know…is that he never ceases to amaze us and delight us with his comments!

We recently celebrated all of the March birthdays in our family!

As we gathered around the table for lunch, Emmett volunteered to pray!

We bowed our heads…closed our eyes…as we waited for Emmett to pray for our food!

However, this is the prayer that Emmett prayed that day:

Dear God…help children to obey their parents…Amen!

I’m pretty sure each of us was smiling on the inside as we heard Emmett’s little prayer for our meal!

And as we lifted our heads and looked at Emmett’s parents…his daddy responded….”We are memorizing that verse and working on that in our home”!!

We all laughed at his response!

Later that day, we gathered around the table for birthday cake!

They boys had been riding their bikes and playing outside and were quite thirsty!

Hudson and Graham were drinking their lemonade and making each other laugh as they looked through their clear glasses at each other!

As Emmett was watching his older brother and cousin laughing into their glasses…he immediately folded his arms across his chest…looked at them across the table…and with much authority said…

“You shouldn’t be laughing and doing that!  I’m not laughing and
neither are your parents!  It’s not funny”!

I wish I had a picture of this little three-year old scolding his older brother and cousin…it was hilarious!

And please know…Emmett is often the first to join in with such type of behavior, but on this particular day…he was not joining in the nonsense and felt it was his right to take charge of the situation and make sure this inappropriate behavior stopped immediately!

We all looked at Emmett’s parents again…and his daddy just shook his head!!

Though Emmett often makes us smile and laugh, he recently shared something a little more profound!

This past winter, Emmett failed his hearing test at school, which surprised all of us!

Shortly after this news, I noticed that Emmett seemed to be talking a little more loudly, and I wasn’t sure if he was actually talking louder or if I was just noticing it more!

Unfortunately, Emmett missed the next hearing test at school because he was ill, so his parents were advised to schedule an appointment with an audiologist for further testing!

Emmett’s mama asked the family to pray…asking that we pray for peace, direction and clear results on the test!

So we joined this sweet mama in prayer…trusting and believing God to touch little Emmett and give his parents clear direction!

We were all so thankful when Rachel shared that Emmett had passed his hearing test and praised God for this good news!

The following week Rachel shared this sweet story!

Without prompting from Rachel, Emmett told his mama…“Mom, I couldn’t hear you last week”!

His mama replied back…”But you can hear me now”?

Emmett responded…”Yep”!

Rachel asked…”What happened?  Was God working?

Emmett replied…”Yes, he healed me, mom”!

The faith of a child never ceases to amaze me!

This precious child knew God could heal him and shares with his mama that God did indeed heal him!

Isaiah 53:5 states…”But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we ae healed”!

I not only praise God that Emmett is hearing his sweet mama’s voice more clearly, but I praise His Holy, Holy name that Emmett is giving God all the glory for touching and healing his ear!

I praise God that Emmett is learning to trust HIM for all things at this tender age!

As I previously shared, this sweet little boy never ceases to amaze us and delight us with his comments!

And often…his sweet words bring tears to this Gammy’s heart…as he shares what God is doing in his young life!

Dear Heavenly Father…thank you for little children!  Thank you for revealing yourself to them at a young age…and may these precious little children grow up…following you all the days of their lives!
