You Say

Some days our hearts just hurt!

On some days, our hearts may be hurting due to one particular situation that is just overwhelming us.

On other days, our hearts might be hurting due to a number of things…

           

The chaos going on in the world around us…

            The loss of a loved one…

            Broken relationships…

            Financial concerns…

            Words spoken that have wounded deeply…

            Rejection…

            And so much more!

And sometimes the ache in our heart can weigh us down…can make us feel empty…burdened…and without hope!

Last Sunday my heart was heavy…for a number of reasons!

I couldn’t shake the feeling!

But as I was driving that evening, a song came on the radio that just ministered to me!

I had just recently heard this song…so I just pulled over…and sat and listened to the words.

The opening lyrics are…

            I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I’m not enough

            Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up

I don’t know about you but, but I often need to fight the voices in my mind…

The lies that the enemy is trying to get me to believe!

I can truly have a real battle going on in my mind…it’s not pretty!

One of my primary Love Languages is…Encouraging Words!

I can hear numerous compliments…encouraging words, praise for a job well done, but when I hear that one negative comment…

Or if I have someone in my life that continuously lets me know that I am not measuring up…I dwell on it!

That negative comment will stay with me!  I ponder it…I play it over and over in my mind, often making it so much worse than it really is!

And the individual who continuously tells me that I am not measuring up…can crush me within seconds!

And soon, I am listening to the lies…the lies of the enemy that not only have I allowed in, but I have allowed myself to dwell on them!

So, when this song came on…I just listened closely to each word!

The next lines were…

            Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low?

            Remind me once again just who I am, because I need to know!

Dear Ones…we have a Heavenly Father who desires to speak into our lives…who desires to let us know that we are a child of God…that we are loved…that we are princes and princesses of a royal kingdom…and that we matter to Him!

I allowed the chorus of the song to wash over me…

You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
You say I am held when I am falling short
When I don’t belong, oh You say that I am Yours
And I believe (I), oh I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
I believe

Regardless of what the world may tell you…God says…

            You are loved

            You are strong (in Him)

            You are held

            You are His

And how do we respond to what God is saying to us?

We believe it!

We run to Him…letting His love…His strength…His grip on our lives….to wash over us!

We repeat His words of truth over and over again…until we truly believe it deep in our Spirits.

We sit at His feet…basking in His glory…until we can sense His presence…His peace…His strength…His love all over us!

We do whatever it takes to draw close to Him…until we feel His loving arms around us.

And as I continued to listen to this song, tears streamed down my cheeks…

           

The only thing that matters now is everything You think of me
In You I find my worth, in You I find my identity, (ooh oh)

Regardless of what others may say…regardless of what is going on in the world around us…we are worthy…valued…and loved.

We need to remind ourselves that what truly matters is what God thinks of us…what He says about us…and we can find our worth…our identity in Him!

We are children of a Heavenly Father that loves us more than we can ever imagine.

And is the chorus repeated, I let these words sink a little deeper into my heart!

We don’t have to carry those burdens…those hurtful words…rejection…the lies of the enemy with us!

We just have to lay them at His feet!

We just have to surrender it all to Him!

And when we can’t feel a thing…we reminder ourselves that we are loved…

When we think we are weak…we remind ourselves that our strength comes from the Lord…

And when we feel like we are falling short…we know that God is holding us in His loving arms…

And when we don’t feel like we belong…we remind ourselves that we are children of God!!

And we believe what God says about us is true!

I pulled the song up on my iPhone and played it over a few more times!

And today, I am reminding myself that God’s word is true…what He says is true…and I believe.
