Now Faith is Confidence in What We Hope For!!

A few weekends ago my youngest son and wife came home to spend the weekend and celebrate Beau's second birthday!  We have been blessed to have them home a couple of times the last few months!  We miss them dearly when several months pass by without seeing them!

Not only do we miss them when they are away, but spending time with family and friends the last few months has made them realize that they are missing being near to those who love them so much.as well as, those that they love so dearly!

Recently, they have begun discussing moving back to this area.  Each time they are home, I think they realize the value of family and friends and how much they cherish those special relationships.

However, as they begin to think about making this move, there are many things to consider…employment...housing...the financial cost of moving...timing…the list is long and if we are completely honest, can be a little overwhelming.

That weekend, my son and daughter-in-law and I sat down to a scrumptious breakfast at Cracker Barrel (we each ordered the Holiday Breakfast Special…I highly recommend it)!!  Shortly after placing our order, we began discussing various options for them to consider as they consider their future.

However, our conversation soon turned to discussing faith and what it meant to place absolute trust in God for what we are all hoping for.

As we were discussing various plans and how they might fall into place, I told my daughter-in-law that faith often means trusting in the unseen.  It's not always easy to step out in faith when you can't see the outcome.

Scripture says. Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see…Hebrews 11:1.

It is so much easier to move forward when we have a clear-cut plan and know the direction we are heading, as well as, the final destination!  We can boldly move forward because we see the end results.

I know this is true in my own life.  I like knowing where I am going...how I am going to get there...and what is going to happen when I arrive.  "Adventurous" is not a word that I often associate myself with!

But God's word says...For we live by faith, not by sight.2 Corinthians 5:7.

God desires us to trust Him.  He wants us to put our hope in Him, believing HE is who HE says HE is...and HE will do what HE has promised us HE will do!

I believe God often wants us to step out in faith...believing that HE will work out the details...we just need to trust Him.

When we read Hebrews, Chapter 11...there are numerous men and women in the bible who stepped out in faith and saw God move in mighty and powerful ways!  They were men and women of faith.

God's word tells us that…These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect…Hebrews 11:39-40.

I want to be a person of faith!  I want to be a person who places my hope and trust in God, believing that God has planned something better for me that only together with Him will be made perfect!

At the time of this writing, it had been a few days since I have talked to my son and his young wife.  I know they were going to pray about things the next few weeks, and I told them that I would be praying for them as well!

And though I do not know what the future holds for this precious couple, I know the ONE who holds their future!

And as they move forward to where God is leading them, I pray that they would continue to remember God's faithfulness.as they continue to ask God to open doors and give them the desires of their hearts. I pray they would be reminded of what God's word says...Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful...Hebrews 10:23.

Dear Heavenly Father…thank you for encouraging us to step out in faith...to trust in the unseen.  Lord I pray that each of us would live by faith and not by sight!  And Lord, I pray that each of us would hold unswervingly to the hope you have placed in our hearts…for YOU, Oh Lord, are faithful!
