So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”…Genesis 22:14
I love how God works! He never ceases to amaze me!
I recently shared how God had worked out the details for my daughter and her family to move closer to family and friends.
I also shared that we have been praying for my youngest son and his wife; they too have desired to move back closer to family and friends.
Fortunately, they were able to be home this past weekend for Thanksgiving! Not only did we get to celebrate the day with all of our children and grandchildren, but Jay and Tori were able to spend the weekend with us!
After a couple weeks of praying, Jay and Tori were ready to look at homes for sale while they were here…they were thrilled at the thought of purchasing their first home!
The first home we looked at was ok, but I could tell that neither of them was overly excited about this home! However, the second home that we looked at was high on their list! Tori had been looking at this home online for a few weeks, and felt this might be the home for them!
As we walked through this home, I could see the sparkle in Tori’s eyes and knew she was falling in love with this home! It was fun and exciting to share this moment with them!
We took our time as we walked through each room…discussing different things they might like to change should they decide to make an offer on this home! You could feel their excitement growing at the thought of becoming a new homeowner!
We all went to dinner later that night! There was much to discuss as we talked about the purchase price, a home inspection, painting, carpet, and the timing of all of this! And of course, we prayed and asked God to guide and lead Jay and Tori in this decision.
After a couple days of negotiations, I’m happy to say that it appears the owners have accepted their offer and this home will soon be theirs, and hopefully, they will be moving into their new home next month!
Once again, I think about how God worked out the details of this situation. Tori is able to transfer with the company she is working…the home that they fell in love with online was just as beautiful as they hoped…God worked out the financing for them to purchase the home…and the timing of it all is falling into place!
God provided for each of their needs and met them each step of the way.
God did the same thing for Abraham. God told Abraham to take his son, his only son…and to sacrifice him as a burnt offering.
Abraham didn’t question God. Early the next morning, Abraham loaded up his donkey and took his son, Isaac, and two servants with him. He cut enough wood for the burnt offering and went where God had directed him to go.
When he arrived at the destination, he asked the servants to wait there so that he and Isaac could go and worship.
Abraham placed the wood on his son to carry and he carried the fire and knife. As they continued on, Isaac asked, “Father…the fire and wood are here…but where is the lamb for the burnt offering”…Genesis 22:7
Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.”…Genesis 22:8
Just as Abraham took the knife and was ready to slay his son, an angel of the Lord called out to him, saying…”Do not lay a hand on the boy…Do not do anything to him…Genesis 22:12
As Abraham looked up, he saw a ram in the thicket. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.
So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”…Genesis 22:14.
Just as God provided for Abraham many years ago…He is still providing for us today.
Abraham trusted God…even when God asked him to sacrifice his only son!
Oh, how I desire to trust God as Abraham did!
Dear Heavenly Father…forgive me for the times I have doubted your provision. Thank you that you are the same yesterday, today and forever! Help each of us to be a little more like Abraham…believing that you will provide for our every need.
