May the God of hope fill you with
all joy and peace as you trust
in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy
Spirit…Romans 15:13.
I love watching my oldest son interact with his two sons! He is off every Tuesday, so while
Rachel works part of the day, he often spends the day taking the boys to the
museum, library, pool, park, or running numerous errands with them!
And when they aren’t running errands, Tuesdays may be spent at home taking
the boys on walks and playing outside.
And during the cold, winter months…you may often find father and sons
playing in their finished basement (which was once hoped to be Zach’s man cave,
but it has become more of Kid’s cave instead)!!
Though they love doing all of these fun things with their daddy, they
really just love spending time with him.
Little Emmett loves it when his daddy throws him up in the air! He smiles and giggles with pure joy and
delight! And the higher his daddy
tosses him…the more he giggles!
Though Emmett is suspended high in air for a few seconds, he has no
fear! As soon as he is secure in
his father’s arms, he is ready to be tossed again!
Several months ago, Rachel sent me a picture of Graham, Emmett’s older
brother jumping into his daddy’s arms in the rain! Graham was fearless too! He knew his daddy was going to catch him!
These little boys trust and love their daddy.
As I think about their lack of fear as they jump into their daddy’s arm
or are tossed high in the air, I am reminded of the following scripture… May the God of hope fill you with all joy
and peace as you trust in him,
so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit…Romans 15:13.
Just as these precious boys trust their daddy to catch them, God
encourages us to trust Him. His
word even states that He will fill us with joy and peace as we place our trust
in our Heavenly Father!
You can see the pure joy and delight as Graham and Emmett soar in the
air above their daddy’s arms!
Why? Because they trust
him…completely!!
However, do I trust God with that same abandonment that Graham and
Emmett display as they wait for their daddy to catch them? Do you?
How many times have we missed an opportunity to soar because of
fear…lack of trust…lack of hope in the One who desires nothing more than to see
us surrender completely to Him!
Often, we merely need to take the first step! But we hesitate…revealing our lack of trust in our Heavenly
Father.
What is God calling you to do today?
Is He asking you to surrender your finances to Him this year and trust
Him to provide for all of you needs?
Is He calling you to accept a new position or a promotion with more
responsibility?
Does He desire for you to say yes to a new relationship…or possibly end
a relationship that is not pleasing to Him?
Is God asking you to take the first step in mending a broken
relationship?
Is He calling you to step out of your comfort zone and serve Him in a
new area of ministry?
Whatever God is calling you to do…He desires nothing more than for you
(and me) to be filled with joy and peace as we take these steps in trusting Him.
Whatever God is calling you to do…He will equip you to do it.
So let’s soar…feeling complete joy and peace, as we trust in Him.
Dear Heavenly Father…thank you
for your promise to fill us with joy and peace, as we trust in you. Help us to be willing to follow you
leading with complete abandonment!
Oh Lord… help us to spread our wings and soar without fear!
