In the
same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your Father in heaven…Matthew 5:16
A few weeks ago, my daughter invited me and her
mother-in-law to a Tea at Hudson’s pre-school!
Needless to say, I was so excited to visit Hudson
at school and could hardly wait for the day to arrive!
Shortly after we arrived, the preschoolers were
seated at their table and chairs and the mamas and grandmas were seated in a
half-circle around the room as Hudson’s teacher passed out cookies, milk and
tea.
After finishing their cookies and milk, the
children stepped to the center of the room to sing a few songs!
One of the songs that they sang was You are My Sunshine!
The words of the chorus are:
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You never know, dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away
You make me happy when skies are grey
You never know, dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away
They were adorable!
Some were a little shy in front of their audience, while others sang
with much enthusiasm.
Their sweet faces lit up the room as they sang for
their mamas and grandmas!
Next, they sat quietly as their teacher read them a
story.
Lastly, they presented beautiful handprint pictures
that they had made for their guests! My beautiful
piece of artwork is displayed proudly on my refrigerator for all to view as
they come in!
As I left Hudson’s preschool, I thought about the
sweet spirit that I had sensed in his classroom.
His teacher had tears as she shared about her group
of young preschoolers and it was apparent that she cared very deeply for each
student. Sensing her love for her
students was very touching.
I also thought about one of the precious songs they
had sung…You are My Sunshine…and how
their sweet voices had filled their classroom.
God’s word states… In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see
your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven…Matthew 5:16
Oh, how I desire for my light to shine, bringing
glory to God each and every day!
And though I might not have a hand-made sun shining
around my face as this group of preschoolers did…I pray that others would be
drawn to the light that is within me…the light of Jesus shining out through me!
I want His light to shine so that others will
desire to know more about our Heavenly Father’s light that is available to all
of us!
Dear
Heavenly Father…how I pray that your light will shine in each of us! I pray that everything we say and do will
bring glory and honor to your name! Help
us to shine for you!
