I had the privilege of attending a very special event this week!
It was “Grandparents Night” at Hudson’s school…my first kindergarten
grandparent visit! You can imagine how excited
this Gammy was to visit Hudson’s kindergarten class!
Grandparents of all ages were walking into the school building with
their darling grandchildren!
The school was buzzing with activity!
Our first stop was right inside the building!
Hudson had a large bag of coins that he deposited in a large container
for a fundraiser that they were doing!
Next, we headed down the hallway to his classroom!
As we headed down the hallway…Hudson pointed out the boys’ bathroom to
me (making sure I knew where it was J!
Displayed on a wall right outside his classroom door, Hudson showed me a
tennis shoe that he had colored, which listed his favorite things:
As we headed into his classroom, Mrs. Bagley, Hudson’s kindergarten
teacher, greeted us with a warm smile and handed us an activity sheet to do!
Moments later, Papa Bruce and Mimi joined us…so; we were able to do all
of the activities together, which included learning about…
- · The Letter People and what was special about them
- · The 3R’s
- · Seeing his calendar and how many days Hudson had been in school
- · Seeing is Hudson could read some of the words displayed in his room
- · And stopping by the photo booth to smile for the camera
One of the last activities included Hudson spending several moments
making this amazing picture frame!
After that, we had our picture taken with this cute little
kindergartner!
We thanked Mrs. Bagley for a wonderful evening as we headed out the
door!
But the evening wasn’t over yet!
Hudson was so excited to show us his lunchroom, which included the table
where he sat…where you purchased your hot lunch should you choose to do so…and
where you got your milk!
He was extremely thorough as he walked us through his lunchroom, making
sure we knew all about it!
Our last stop was the playground, which I have to say…was quite an
impressive playground!
Hudson went from one piece of play equipment to the next, thoroughly
enjoying every minute!
Mimi and I followed him around…sharing his enthusiasm as he climbed up
and down the equipment and swung from the monkey bars!
We were both blessed to see how much he loved his school and how proud
he was to show us around!
As I viewed his smiling face throughout the evening, I thought of all of
things he will be learning the next few years…reading, writing, arithmetic, the
history of this great nation…and so much more!
And though I desire his knowledge to increase in these areas, I also pray
his knowledge of the Lord continues to grow each year!
I pray that it is just as important to him to study and meditate upon
God’s word…to love learning what the bible says…to increase his knowledge of
the ways of the Lord!
Philippians 1:9-10 says…”And this
is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of
insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and
blameless for the day of Christ.”
That’s my prayer for Hudson and all of my grandsons…that as they grow in
knowledge of the Lord…they will be able to discern what is best…remaining pure
and blameless before Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
I want these precious little boys to lean on Jesus Christ throughout the
day…knowing…trusting…believing…that HE is always with them!
I want them to know that they can call upon his name…pray…anytime
throughout the day!
I want them to know that God loves them more than they can even
imagine…because HE does!
So, my prayer for them is to abound more and more in knowledge…not just
while they are at school…but as they draw closer to their Heavenly Father.
Dear Heavenly Father…thank you
for placing your loving arms around my grandsons as they head off to school
each day. Hold them close to you,
Lord...and may feel your presence each and every day.
