This past summer, I spend several days caring
for three of my grandsons!
Though we had lots of fun, we also had some
amazing conversations!
Hudson, my oldest grandson, is a very bright
little boy!
I’m not quite sure how this conversation started,
but at one point during the conversation, Hudson asked…
“Gammy, will you go to heaven before me”?
I could feel tears coming to my eyes as this
sweet little boy innocently asked this question.
Praying before I responded…”Yes, Hudson…I will
probably go to heaven before you”.
Hudson asked…”Is that because you are older
than me”?
“Yes”….knowing there was so much more that I
could share, but how much do you share with a 5 year old?
Hudson has such a sensitive heart…I didn’t want
to share that life doesn’t always seem to be fair…and that sometimes little
children go to heaven before their parents!
Moments later Hudson continued the
conversation.
“Mommy told me that we will get new bodies when
we get to heaven”.
I told him that was true!
Hudson than asked…”Will we get new veins in our
bodies too”?
Hmmmmm….I wondered…will our new bodies have
veins?
I honestly answered…”I’m not sure buddy”! “I don’t know what our new bodies will look
like”!
I could see tears pooling in Hudson’s eyes!
Hudson than said…”I’m not sure I want new veins
or a new body” “And I will miss you if
you go to heaven before me”!
As I looked at Hudson’s sweet face…as he shared
his tender heart…I prayed God would give me the wisdom to respond to all of his
questions!
I told Hudson that heaven was a beautiful place
where there will be no more tears…no more pain…and that someday…we will all be
together there if we have asked Jesus into our hearts!
I told him how important it was for each of us
to live our lives in way that is pleasing to God…and to ask Him each day to
help us make good choices!
I told him how important it was for us to tell
others about Jesus so that they too could go to heaven too!
Lastly, I shared that the greatest gift this
Gammy could ever receive is knowing that each of her children…grandchildren…and
future grandchildren will be in Heaven with her someday!
Though I hoped my answers would satisfy
Hudson’s questions, I could tell his little mind was processing what I had
shared!
Soon, he asked his next question…”Where will I
live in heaven…what will my house be like”?
Hudson continued with…”I love my home here”!
I told him that God has a wonderful home for us
in heaven….and that Jesus was there preparing a place for us!
His word states…”My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have
told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?....John 14:2.
And then shared with him…but we don’t have to
think about that right now…because we still have lots time here on this earth with
all of our family and friends!
This isn’t the first time that Hudson has asked
me some in-depth questions!
During a previous conversation, we were talking
about how God made everything!
After we discussed what God created each day of
the week, Hudson then asked…”If God made all of those things…who made God”??
Wow!
Good question buddy!
How do you respond to that?
If this little guy is asking these type of
questions when he is 5 years old…what questions will he be asking when he is a
teenager…a young adult?!
I am already praying for God to bless his mama
and daddy with wisdom as he asks each of them tough questions!
As I thought about Hudson’s questions…his
desire to know the truth…to understand God’s ways…I realized how important it
is for me to not only read the bible daily…but to study it…meditate upon it…ask
God to reveal to me what the scriptures are saying!
How can I witness to others…how can I share
Jesus if I am not knowledgeable of God’s word?
John 5:39 says…”You study the scriptures diligently because you think that in them you
have eternal life. These are the very
Scriptures that testify about me.”
God’s word…the Holy Bible…is filled with
scriptures that provide us knowledge about Jesus!
I want to be able to share God’s word…His truth
with not only all of my grandsons…but with everyone that I come in to contact
with!
I desire to be a light in this dark world…
Honestly, I’m not sure I answered all of
Hudson’s questions very well that day!
And I’m sure that precious little boy will have
tough questions for all of us in the future!
So I will continue to open my bible
daily…pray…and ask God to give me His wisdom…for those tough questions in life!
Dear Heavenly Father…thank you for the gift of eternal life! And though we not really know what heaven
will be like…we can have the assurance of spending eternity with you! Thank you for that free gift!

So sweet <3
