This week I went to my first Cub’s game at Wrigley Field!
I had been looking forward to this adventure for weeks!
When I watched the final game of the World Series last year, my sons and
I were texting throughout the game!
If you remember, it was quite the nail-biter!
The game was so intense…that I caught myself hiding my face at
times…wanting…but not wanting to see the next play!
My youngest son said his stomach hurt because he was so nervous for the
Cub’s players!
We could hardly keep up with each other’s text after that final play…after
the Cub’s clenched the World Series
Papa joined in for part of our conversation, but my sons and I continued
to text late into the night as we watched Chicago streets fill with fans that
had been waiting a long time to see the Cub’s win the World Series!
As we continued to watch the celebration…our texting included making
plans for all of us to attend a game next year…and we did just that!
I could hardly wait!
I had seen Wrigley Field on TV…in movies…in pictures, but I had never
visited this ballpark in person!
I wondered if it would live up to everything that I had heard about it!
And it did!
The night was almost perfect!
The weather was beautiful…it was sunny and warm and there was a slight
breeze as we sat in the stands.
The stands were filled with Cub’s fans eagerly waiting for their team to
take the field!
Our seats were great too!
My oldest son found the seats and ordered the tickets!
We were in the middle of the first baseman and right fielder…two of my
favorite players…Rizzo…and Bryant, who was playing Right Field that night!
So this mama was quite happy to watch those two players in action!
And to top it off…Rizzo hit a home run before we left!!
Not only did I get to see the Cub’s play…I saw a couple characters from
one of my favorite TV shows…Chicago Fire!
David Eigenberg…better known as Herman on Chicago Fire…threw out one of
the first pitches with his two little girls!
We had just been talking about Chicago Fire and how Kris Bryant was
making a cameo appearance on the show last night!
During the 7th Inning Stretch, both David Eigenberg and Christian
Stolte…better known as Mouch on Chicago Fire…led us in singing…Take Me Out to the Ballgame!!
I couldn’t have asked for a better night to visit Wrigley Field for the
first time!!
Especially since the Cubs beat the Reds 9 to 5…let’s fly the W!
I’m already looking forward to my next visit to Wrigley Field!
Seeing Wrigley Field for the first time was everything that I hoped it
would be!
But there is another event that I look forward too as well…
Meeting Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior face-to-face one day!
I’m not sure that I can even imagine that day…what it will be like…how I
will feel??!!
There is a song by Mercy Me…I Can
Only Imagine… that talks about that day!
"I Can Only
Imagine"
I can only
imagine what it will be like
When I walk by your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see
When your face is before me
I can only imagine
Yeah
Surrounded by your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus,
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
I can only imagine when that day comes
And I find myself standing in the sun
I can only imagine when all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you
I can only imagine, yeah
I can only imagine
Surrounded by your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus,
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
Yeah
I can only imagine
Surrounded by your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus,
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
Yeah
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
Yeah
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you
I can only imagine
When I walk by your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see
When your face is before me
I can only imagine
Yeah
Surrounded by your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus,
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
I can only imagine when that day comes
And I find myself standing in the sun
I can only imagine when all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you
I can only imagine, yeah
I can only imagine
Surrounded by your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus,
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
Yeah
I can only imagine
Surrounded by your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus,
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
Yeah
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
Yeah
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you
I can only imagine
I have no idea how I will react when I meet Jesus Christ the first time!
When I walk beside him…when I finally get to chat with him in person!
Will I dance…or be in such awe…that I am speechless?
Will I stand in His presence or will I fall to my knees?
I have no idea what I will say or do!
But I do know…that it will exceed anything that I can imagine or dream
of!
It will be perfect…because my Lord and Savior is perfect!
Dear Heavenly Father…thank you
for special moments in life…moments that meet and/or exceed our
expectations! Thank you that those
moments are often so much better than we can even imagine! And Lord…as we look forward to meeting you
someday…we can rest assured…it will exceed anything we have ever imagined! O how we love you!!
