Streets of Gold

I know that I have said this before…but I love fall!

This season displays some of my favorite colors…yellow, gold, orange, and red!

And this year I was blessed to see the mums that I planted last year thriving and blooming some of those glorious colors!

I also love decorating my home…my front porch…for fall…inviting all to come in and sit for a while!

I love the crisp weather (well, normally it is crisp…this year has been unseasonably warm), but I know the cooler temperatures are coming soon!

I love having wiener roasts…bonfires…hayrides…making s’mores!

I know I might be a little biased, but I believe this season is even better when you live in the country!

Cornfields and bean fields surround our home!

So, I love seeing farmers in the field…working all hours of the day and night to bring in their harvest!

And you can just imagine how I love walking down our country roads with Josie (our Chesapeake Bay Retriever).

A few weeks ago, Josie and were walking early one morning…

The sun was rising…it was a beautiful morning!

And I couldn’t help but notice how our country road was lined with glorious, golden-brown crops on each side!

Some may not have taken much notice, but to this mid-western girl…the beauty of the season just blessed my heart and I soaked it all in!

As I was enjoying the splendor all around me…I began thinking…

Though they are beautiful (at least to me), the country roads lined with the golden fields will pale in comparison to the streets of gold in heaven!

God’s word describes heaven as…” The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pear.  The great street of the city was gold, as pure as transparent glass…Revelations 21:21.

I can hardly fathom the beauty of heaven…pearly gates…streets of gold!

As Josie and I walked that morning, I continued to think about heaven!

I thought of God’s word, saying…

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven
and first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any say.
I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven
from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne say, “Look!  God’s dwelling
place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them.  They
will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes.  There will be no more death
or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” …Revelation 21:1-4

I thought of the great care that a bride takes to prepare for her wedding day…to prepare for her future husband...realizing that same great care is being taken as God prepares for us!

I smiled as I thought of God dwelling among us!

We will be His people…He will be our God.

He will wipe every tear…

There will be no more death…no more mourning…no crying or pain.

My little brain can hardly absorb how magnificent heaven will be!

I continued to ponder heaven and looked up other scriptures describing heaven.

“The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the
glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.  The nations will
walk by its light, and the kinds of the earth will bring their splendor into it.
On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.
The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it.  Nothing
impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful
or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s
book of life” …Revelation 21:23-17.

God’s glory will provide all the light we need!

The darkness of night will be no more!

Nothing impure…shameful or deceitful will be allowed!

Oh Dear Ones…Heaven is going to be amazing…something we can’t even fully imagine!

The fields of gold that I greatly admire on my walks…in all their beauty…won’t hold a candle to the beauty that awaits us!

I couldn't help including a picture of our little Joel!!!

But please read the last line of scripture that I shared…

Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life” …will enter!

Will you be there?

Can you answer without a doubt that when you pass from this earth…you will spend eternity in heaven?

If you haven’t asked Jesus Christ into you hearts, I pray you will do so…right now!

His arms are open…eagerly waiting for you to come to Him!

He loves…and desires to spend eternity with you!

Dear Heavenly Father…thank for the fall season…let us enjoy this season to its fullest!  But I also pray…that we are prepared to enjoy life after we pass from this earth!  I pray that someday each of us will spend our lives in the presence of Your Glory...basking in Your light and warmth!
