Anticipation

Anticipation!

Webster’s Dictionary defines the word “anticipation” as…

The act of looking forward; especially to pleasurable expectation

The visualization of a future event or state

That is me right now!

We are expecting the arrival of our ninth grandchild!  That’s right…9!!

We are also expecting the arrival of our second granddaughter!

To say I am excited is an understatement!

God blessed us with seven little grandsons in a row!  The oldest just turned 7 and the youngest is almost 2 ½ years old!

And our first granddaughter was born 9 months ago!  She is just a little doll baby!

It has been so much fun buying cute, little girly items for this sweetie, and I look forward to the continued shopping sprees for both of these precious little girls!

And though God has richly blessed us the last several years, the anticipation and excitement of a new baby never gets old!

I catch myself thinking about this precious little baby girl!

What will she look like?

Will she favor her mama…daddy…or one of our brothers?

I wonder if she will look like her mama did when she was born?

Will she have big, blue eyes?

Will she have her mother’s dimples?

Will she have lots of hair like her mama did when she was born?

Will she be tiny and delicate?

Will she love to dance like her mama…

Or play sports like her daddy?

Will her older brothers totally dote on her…providing her with endless attention and love!  I’m pretty sure I can answer “Yes” to this question!

And if I’m honest…I often have tears as I try to picture this little blessing!

I’m excited for our first little granddaughter, Caroline, to have a girl cousin…a play mate!

I’m excited to see them playing dolls, dressing up and having tea parties!

I’m excited for them to grow up together…surrounded by older brothers and boy cousins!

I am excited for all that God has planned for this little darling!

And though I have no idea what this baby girl will look like…God does!

God’s word tell us…”And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered”…Matthew 10:30.

I love this!

God knows every hair on her head!

He knows exactly what she will look like!

I can picture God smiling as he created this tiny baby!  The joy that must fill his heart as another new life grows in her mother’s womb…just as God created it to do so!

And now only does God create each child…HE has a plan for each of them.

God’s word tells us…” For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”…Jeremiah 29:11

God has a wonderful plan for Everly!

Not only does he have a plan for her…God desires to prosper this little one!

His plans include a hope and a future!

He desires the very best for her!

So, as I anxiously await the arrival of this sweet baby girl, I can rest in Him.

Knowing that God created her in his own image…that HE has a wonderful plan for her…and that I can look expectantly to all that HE has for this precious child!

But as I wait for her arrival…I still might dream and ponder what this precious, baby girl will look like!

But the one thing I do know for certain…she is loved!
