Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are
young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in
faith and in purity. 1 Timothy
4:12.
My son-in-law recently sent
me a picture of his two sons dressed up in super hero costumes!
Aren’t they adorable! I immediately responded back to his
text, stating that I felt so much safer having these two super heroes in my
life! And of course, I love them
to bits and enjoy spending as much time with them as I can.
However, as I thought about
those sweet faces smiling at me in their super-hero costumes, I was quickly
reminded of the heroes in the bible!
God used ordinary people to do extraordinary things! God even used individuals with major flaws.
For example:
Jacob was a cheater.
Peter had a temper.
David had an affair.
Noah got drunk.
Jonah ran from God.
Paul was a murderer.
Gideon was insecure.
Miriam was a gossip.
Martha was a worrier.
Thomas was a doubter.
Sara was impatient.
Elijah was moody.
Moses stuttered.
Zaccheus was short.
Abraham was old.
Lazarus was dead.
Many of us would have looked
at these men and women of the bible, believing that God could never used these
individuals due to their flaws.
But He did! David was a man
after God’s own heart and defeated the giant, Goliath, Moses led the Israelites
to the Promised Land, and Paul became a great missionary, sharing the gospel of
Jesus Christ! God used them for
His glory!
I’m not sure what God has
planned for the two young super heroes in my life, but I know that God can use
them, at any age, for His glory!
Dear Heavenly Father…thank you for
using ordinary people to do extraordinary
things! Help us to see others with your eyes, believing that you can
use each of us, regardless of our flaws, for your glory! And help us to not look down upon the
young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in
faith and in purity.
