My Father's house has many
rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to
prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and
take you to be with me that you also may be where I am...John 14:2-3.
I recently shared that my daughter
and her family had moved back home and we couldn't be more thrilled to have
them close by again!
This was a huge move for this young
family! Moving can be overwhelming, but moving with three small children…with
the youngest one only being a few months old is no small undertaking!
My daughter told me that when she
pulled in the driveway of their new home, their oldest son exclaimed..."Mommy,
I love it! Our new home is so beautiful"!! He was so excited
to see their new home and his genuine enthusiasm was a blessing to his Mama's
heart!
When I saw him the next day, he proceeded
to tell me all about his new home. He wanted to tell me all about his new
bedroom...the playroom in the basement…and all about his backyard, which
included a swing set and a tree to climb! Needless to say, he was excited
to share what he had found as he had explored their new home!
And of course, as he was sharing…his
younger brother who just turned two years old would repeat everything he was
saying, letting me know that he approved of his new home as well!
We were all praying for a smooth
transition and for each of them to feel settled quickly! And as they
continue to paint and make this new place their own; we were thrilled that the
boys were calling this new house "home" so quickly!
And though I rejoice with them as
they settle in, I am reminded that our homes on earth are temporary…our eternal
home will be in heaven.
God's word tells us. My Father's
house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am
going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you
also may be where I am...John 14:2-3.
Just as we take time to prepare our
own homes…painting, decorating…making it a warm and inviting environment to
every family member, friend and guest that walks through its doors...our
Heavenly Father is doing the same.
HE is preparing a home for us in
heaven. I can only imagine how welcomed and loved we will feel when we
enter the doors of our heavenly home!
And though I can only imagine…I'm
sure if I am able...I will share my oldest grandson's enthusiasm when I see my heavenly
home for the first time...possibly even exclaiming..."I love it…my new
home is so beautiful"!!
Until that day arrives, I pray each
of us will continue to enjoy decorating our homes…preparing it in such a manner
that as each guest enters the doors of our home…they will senses Christ'
presence and feel His love!
