For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with
them…Matthew 18:20.
Last week, a sweet young lady who was a part of
our church youth group several years ago gave birth to twin daughters
prematurely.
The twin girls, Margot and Meryl, were born at
25.5 weeks, each weighing less than two pounds.
We have been praying for these precious babies and
their sweet family for the past week.
On Facebook this morning I read that the twins were
showing signs of bleeding on their brains, so I prayed.
Moments later, my daughter sent a text to me
and my two daughter-in-laws, Rachel and Tori, providing us this update and
asking us to join her in prayer at noon for these babies
She also asked us to share the request with
others who would join us in prayer, so I forward the text to my prayer warrior
friends, who quickly responded back that they would be praying!
God’s word tell us… For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with
them…Matthew 18:20.
Though there are times that we may not be able
to join together in the same room…holding hands…praying and lifting our cares
and concerns to God…He is still with us wherever we are!
I know that as each of us lifted our prayers to
God for these tiny little ones…whether we were at work…in our homes…in our
cars…busy caring for our own children or grandchildren…God was with us!
How reassuring to know that when two or three
come together to pray…lifting our cares and concerns before the Lord…HE is with
us!
He hears our prayers and intercedes on our
behalf to our Heavenly Father!
And I am sure as each of us said “amen”…we knew
with complete assurance that God had heard our prayers…and was moving in ways
that we could never imagine!
I pictured God holding those tiny infants in
his tender arms as I prayed for this precious family. And when I finished praying, I looked up and
saw this inscription on my son and daughter-in-law’s wall:
Family…
One of life’s greatest blessings…
A household full of unconditional love and
nurturing where you share hurt, joys, laughter, and fears…
Members who share the same values, beliefs, and
traditions…
A group descending from a common ancestor…
Your support system…
The people who know you best…
Those with whom you make the greatest memories
of your life.
And I thought of the family and friends across
the miles that had joined together at noon to pray for two tiny babies who
desperately need our prayers!
And I thought of how family was described in
that inscription…
Though the family that joined together in
prayer today does not descend from a common ancestor…they are still
family! They are brothers and sisters in
Christ because they asked Jesus Christ into their hearts.
They are a family who share the same values and
beliefs.
They are a family…who have become your support
system…who are there when you need them…to pray for you…comfort you…love you!
They are a family…joined together across the
miles at the same time to pray for a need…trusting and believing in God for a
miracle.
They are a family…who has a Heavenly Father
that promises to be with them when they pray!
Today…the thought of being part of a large
family of believers was comforting…and blessed my heart deeply.
Dear ones…I don’t know what you are facing
today, but I do know that you don’t have to face it alone!
You have a family of believers that would love
nothing more than to join you in prayer…that desires to be there for you…and a
Heavenly Father that promises to be with you also!
There is power in prayer…so let’s pray!
Dear Heavenly Father…we continue to lift up Margot and Meryl,
trusting and believing that you have wonderful plans for these precious
babies! Continue to wrap your arms
around them and their sweet family…meeting them right where they are! And thank you for blessing us with a large
family…those we call our brothers and sisters in Christ!
