I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead
you along straight paths…Proverbs
4:11.
A few nights
ago I had the privilege of traveling to Bloomington to watch our sweet Graham’s
Pre-K Program.
Mind
you, I wasn’t the only one who had come to see this special little guy!
Besides
his parents and younger brothers, Papi and Lola were there…Great Grandma and
Grandpapa…Aunt Kiki…and Miss Danielle and her sister, Miranda (these two precious
sisters have babysat for Graham and Emmett and love them dearly…and Graham and
Emmett love them equally right back)!!
I think
Graham may have had the largest group of fans in the audience on this
particular evening!
Though
we are always excited to see Graham…we were exceptionally enthusiastic to see
this performance!
You
see…Graham had one of only two speaking parts!
(Yes, I’m sure you can hear a little bit of pride in my writing even as
I type these words)!
Our
Graham was playing an important role that evening…He was the king!
I am
sure that I am not biased at all…but he had to be the cutest little king ever!!
And I’m
pretty sure each of his family members felt a small burst of pride when our
little Graham spoke his lines!
And we
couldn’t help but smile at him when he would look over at us…making sure that
we had seen and heard him!
This little
play started off with the king encouraging the raccoon to stay on course during
the race!
But the
little raccoon got distracted…
Shortly
after he started down the path, he was immediately distracted by some warm
biscuits with butter…
And
after spending time with the biscuits, our little raccoon was sidetracked by a
large mirror…so of course, he had to stop and see how he looked in the mirror!
However,
our king continued to remind the little raccoon to stay on course…don’t get off
the path that I have chosen for you!
The
king’s encouraging words continued throughout the raccoon’s journey!
As I contemplated the raccoon’s choices, I thought…each of us are a little like him!
We have
good intentions as we begin each morning…desiring to stay on course and on the
path that God has set before us!
But
like our little raccoon, we too can get easily distracted!
And if
we aren’t careful, those distractions can easily take us off the path that God
desires us to be on!
And
each distraction takes us a little further from our destination!
But
fortunately, just as the little raccoon had a king encouraging him to stay on
course, we too have a King…our Heavenly Father…who is also encouraging us
throughout the day to stay on course as well!
God’s
word reminds us… I instruct you in the
way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths…Proverbs 4:11.
We can
rejoice because we never have to walk alone!
We can
seek God’s wisdom to guide us and guard our steps each day!
When we
walk in HIS wisdom…when we live our lives submitted to God…He will guide us and
protect us throughout each day!
His
word also states…The path of the righteous is like the
morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day…Proverbs 4:18.
At
dawn, there is only a small amount of light that illuminates the sky!
But as
night fades, the light grows brighter with each passing moment.
Our
walk with Jesus is similar to this!
When we
first begin to follow following Jesus, we may only slightly sense His presence…faintly
see His Light.
But as
we draw closer to Him…as we get to know Jesus more intimately…His presence
becomes more familiar.
That small
light becomes brighter…making our path clearer…allowing us to follow God a
little more easier!
It
helps us to stay on course…God’s chosen path for us!
I am so
thankful that little raccoon had a king to encourage him!
But I
am even more thankful for my Heavenly Father…the King of Kings…to encourage me
and guide me each day!
Dear Heavenly Father…thank you for guiding us
with your wisdom, enabling us to stay on a straight path that leads us closer
to you!
