The Christmas tree is down…
Decorations are boxed up and put away…
Hopefully, all of the cookies have been eaten…
And you have attended your last holiday party…
And if you are like me…your break is over and you have headed back to
work!
All of this leaves me with conflicting emotions this time of year!
I’m a little sad to see the Christmas decorations boxed up and put away
for another year!
Each ornament…each Christmas decoration has a special place in my heart…so
many memories are attached with each special piece!
So, I carefully wrap and box up each treasure…keeping it safe until next
Christmas!
My home looks a little bare without the additional Christmas trimmings
displayed throughout each room!
And at the same time…it’s nice to see my home a little less cluttered!
And since we are still in the process of remodeling, painting…I have
made several trips to Hobby Lobby…pinned several pins on Pinterest…looking for
the perfect decorations to accent our home decor!
I want to fill those bare spaces with special pieces…pieces that will
make it more homey and welcoming to our family, friends and guests!
But if I am completely honest…it’s not the Christmas decorations…
It’s not the different pieces of furniture that we have purchased for
various rooms…
Or the accent pieces that I have pinned and hope to purchase in the near
future that make it a home!
It’s the giggles of little boys running through each room…dressing up as
super heroes…and then leaving their costumes strung across the floors all throughout
the house!
It’s our family congregating in the kitchen as dinners are prepared!
It is the tippy cups lining the counters as thirsty little boys dash
back into the kitchen to get a much-needed drink...after much time of playing together!
Its family and friends gathered around the kitchen table…playing cards
and board games!
And as we gather around that game board…we reminisce of times we played
that particular game with a precious family member (my grandma and granddad)…fondling
remembering our time spent with them!
It’s having little boys crawl into bed with you at 3:00 a.m. because
they don’t want to sleep alone in their beds any longer!
It’s snuggling on the couch with little ones…watching a favorite Disney
movie!
It’s the family…friends…and guests that gather together in our home…making
memories…that truly make a house a home!
Maybe your home is also feeling a little bare as you put away your
Christmas decorations until next year!
And maybe you are like me…looking for new items to adorn those empty
spaces!
If so, have fun pinning…searching home décor websites…watching another
episode of Fixer Upper…or stopping by Hobby Lobby several times in one week!
But also, remember…to invite family and friends over…
Those bare spaces will quickly be filled with love and laughter…and
memories in the making!
This phrase has caught my eye…so hoping to find it in just the right
size…or have some talented ladies I know make it for our home…
Bless the Food Before Us…
The Family Beside Us…
And the Love Between us!
I hope everyone who walks through the doors of our home feels the same
way!
Dear Heavenly Father…help me to
remember this message as I strive to turn our house into a home! I often feel anxious as I wait for it all to
come together…but it’s not the things that fill our home that are important…it’s
the people! May each of them feel your
love and your presence as they walk through our doors!
