It is hard to believe that six years ago I welcomed my first grandson
into the world!
It was quite a memorable day!
New grandparents-to-be arrived at the hospital early…chatted and visited
as we waited for this little bundle of joy to make his appearance!
After several hours of waiting…we headed down to the nursery to watch as
they brought new babies into the room!
A few babies were brought to the nursery as we stood there!
We would gaze in and wonder…could one of these little babies be our
grandson?
Finally, Andrew…wearing scrubs… came walking down the hall…carrying his
precious son!
We got a quick peak before they took him into the nursery for a complete
check up!
We watched as the nurses tended to him!
We “oohed and awed”…took pictures…took videos…smiled…cried…and made a
huge fuss over this little bundle!
And of course, we thought he was the cutest baby in the nursery!
He was plump…weighing over 8 pounds…and had lots of dark hair!
He was adorable and I fell in love with him immediately!
Thought I could have watched this tiny baby all day, I was also anxious
to see my daughter…I could hardly wait to congratulate her and give her a hug!
Finally, I was able to go back and see her…she was glowing…asking if I
had met her little baby yet!
What a precious moment!
Seeing my daughter…my little girl…now a mama herself!
My heart was overflowing with love for all of them!
It had been a long day, so we took Andrew to the cafeteria to get a bit
to eat while they got Bekah and Hudson settled in their room!
As we arrived in the cafeteria, we noticed how much snow had fallen the
last few hours!
They had been predicting a snow blizzard the last few days…and we were
definitely seeing that!
It had become winter wonderland!
We ate quickly and headed back to the room to see Bekah and meet our
little grandson in person!
We each took a turn holding this little miracle!
And I know each of our hearts melted as he was placed in our arms!
I think we could have stayed there forever…just gazing at his sweet
face, but we knew that both he and mama needed to get rest and we needed to get
headed home before we got stranded!
With the blizzard-like conditions, we decided it would be wise to follow
each other home!
As we got on 51, we quickly realized it was a complete white out---we
couldn’t see anything!
We also heard that 51 were closed in some areas!
So, we turned around and headed back to Bloomington!
The roads were so bad that we couldn’t even make it to our son and
daughter-in-law’s…who lived in Bloomington!
We finally found a hotel…spent the night and woke up to the sun shining
and everything covered in a large blanket of snow!
By the time we left the hotel, the roads were fairly decent!
We stopped by to visit Andrew, Bekah and Hudson and spend time with them
before we headed home!
Joy filled our hearts as we thought of the birth of our first grandson!
And joy fills our hearts today when we think of this little boy!
As we celebrate his 6th birthday…the following thoughts come
to my mind concerning Hudson!
He is an extremely bright little boy…asking in-depth questions that
often surprise me!
He is creative…loves to draw and is very talented!
The pictures he draws are very amazing!
I am always impressed with all the details that are included in his
drawings!
He is somewhat a perfectionist…he loves to do everything to the best of
his capabilities and doesn’t settle for less!
He is inquisitive…when reading a story or watching a movie…Hudson will
often ask questions…making sure he understands what is happening in the story!
Hudson also has a strong sense of right and wrong!
And he and his brothers’ love listening to me share stories of when their
mommy was little…and what she, Uncle Zach and Uncle Jay did when they were
little!
He laughs and often asks…did they really do that when they were little??
And then begs me to share one more story before their bedtime!
I have loved seeing God mold and shape Hudson into the little boy he is
today!
And though it doesn’t seem possible that he is turning six years old
this week…I praise God for the wonderful little boy he is and what God is doing
in his young life!
I love watching my daughter and her husband teach these little boys!
It’s a blessing to sit back and watch their sweet family!
As I watch them…I am reminded of the following scripture…”Start children off on the
way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”…Proverbs
22:6
My daughter and her husband have been teaching their little boys the
ways of the Lord since birth!
They have prayed for them and with them…taken them to church…read the
bible with them…and share God’s love with them daily!
They truly have started their
children off on the way they should go!
And as a grandparent…their Gammy…I pray for all of them daily…asking God
to bless this precious family!
And as we celebrate Hudson’s 6th Birthday this week…I praise
God for allowing me to grandparent such a sweet boy!
And I ask God to help me be the best parent…the best grandparent…that I
can be!
Praying that I will always be a reflection of Jesus Christ to my
children and grandchildren!
And He will…because HE is faithful!
Dear Heavenly Father…this week I
thank you for bringing Hudson into our lives six years ago! I pray that your anointing will be upon him
and that Hudson will follow you all the days of his life. Help him to a person of integrity…a man of
God that shines brightly for you!
