I recently shared how I love hearing
my grandchildren pray!
Their prayers are sweet, tender,
honest and straight from their hearts!
Sometimes I smile when they pray, and
sometimes tears stream down my cheeks as they share their hearts with God!
This past weekend I was reminded of
a prayer that Graham prayed approximately 2 ½ years ago!
Graham would have been around three
years old at that time!
We were attending my niece's wedding
and were seated at the reception, waiting for the bride and groom to arrive.
It had been a long afternoon for
Graham and his younger brother, but they were such troopers!
As we patiently waited for the bride
and groom to be announced, Graham shared with our table that he wanted a little
sister!
Now, this wasn't the first time this
darling little boy had voiced his desire for a little girl to join their
family!
I believe he had already shared his
heart with most of the family!
As Graham voiced his desire for a
baby sister at the table that evening, his sweet mama said, "Graham, why
don't you pray and ask God for a little sister"!
Thinking he would pray about this
when he got home that evening, our little Graham chose to step out in faith and
pray right then and there!
He folded his hands, closed his
eyes, and said the sweetest prayer!
"Dear God, would you please give me a little
sister! Amen"!
I looked at his mama with tears in
my eyes, and saw tears in her loving eyes as well!
We smiled and just knew that God has
heard this sweet little boy's prayer!
God did bless this family with
another child a little over a year ago!
But it wasn't a little girl…it was a
darling little boy…Joel!
And I couldn't imagine life without
this precious little boy!
His smile lights up the room!
We weren't quite sure how Graham
would handle the news that God had given him another little brother, but when
he arrived at the hospital to meet his new little brother…he climbed up on the
bed and kissed his little head!
Graham couldn’t wait to hold his
little brother!
And he continues to be a good “Big
Brother” to both Emmett and Joel!
However, I never forgot the little
prayer Graham prayed and was reminded of this prayer right before Thanksgiving!
We received exciting news…Graham's
mama was expecting again!
This news surprised everyone...and I
believe the parents were even a little surprised by this news!
We cried and rejoiced with them as
they announced that Baby #4 would be joining the family mid-June!
In the past, Zach and Rachel have
chosen to wait and see if they were having a boy or girl until he or she
arrived!
But this time, they decided they would
learn if they were having a boy or girl, and asked Kelly (also known as Aunt
Kikki) to throw a Gender Reveal Party so that they could share this exciting
news with family and friends!
We were excited and looking forward
to the day of the party with great anticipation!
Our seven little grandsons were all
in attendance at the party…playing and having fun as we waited for the
announcement!
When asked if we thought Zach and
Rachel were having a boy or a girl...this little group of boys banded together and
declared it was a boy!
They all huddled around Aunt Kikki…who
held a box, which contained numerous items that would reveal if we were having
another grandson...or possibly, our first granddaughter!
Excitement filled the air as little
hands tore at the box...pulling out tissue paper piece by piece!
It was hard to see with so many
little heads leaning over the box!
But finally, Aunt Kikki held up the
most precious little, glittery, silver slippers!
Zach and Rachel were having a girl!
Tears filled my eyes as each little
girl item was held up!
We all would have been happy if it
was a boy too, but I think many of us were hoping for a little girl!
And as congratulations and hugs were
exchanged…I couldn’t help but remember Graham’s prayer from a few years ago!
It is so easy for us to become
discouraged when our prayers aren’t answered immediately!
The waiting can be unbearable at
times.
But God asks us to trust Him…to
place our hope in Him!
And though I may not understand His
timing…His ways…I do know that our Heavenly Father is faithful.
And I am reminded of His word, which
states…”but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength. They will
soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and
not be faint”…Isaiah 40:31.
I pray during the seasons of waiting…we
will choose to place our hope in the Lord
For HE alone will renew our
strength…
HE will help us to run and not grow
weary…
HE will help us to wait and not
faint…
He will help us to soar on wings
like eagles!
Oh dear ones…His promises are true!
HE hears and listens to the prayers
that are prayed…
And HE cares for and loves HIS
children more than we can imagine!
Dear
Heavenly Father…thank you…thank you…for hearing the prayers of a little boy who
humbly bowed before you…praying and asking for a baby sister. Thank you for answering that prayer…in Your
timing! We truly give you all the glory
and we praise your Holy, Holy name!
