Therefore put on the full armor
of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your
ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then,
with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of
righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that
comes from the gospel of peace. In addition
to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the
flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of
the Spirit, which is the word of God...Ephesians 6:13-17
I absolutely love this time of
year…Fall! And this week, the weather has been absolutely
gorgeous!! I could spend almost every minute outside during this time of
year!
However, this season presents
one small dilemma…what do I wear to work each day? (I know…this is a life
shattering decision…right)!! The mornings are normally cooler, but by
afternoon, the temperatures have risen and it is much warmer outside, so you have to consider
this as you are getting dressed each morning!
In addition, my office tends to
be chilly, so I am often cold throughout the day if I am not dressed warm enough! On these particular days, I catch myself standing in front of my closet each morning, looking
at my wardrobe mindlessly, hoping a particular garment will jump out at me
that morning! It hasn't happened yet, but I'm always hopeful!
On this particular morning, I
was taking extra in choosing my outfit for the day (as well as, something appropriate for the weather)
because we were having our photos taken at work. And yes, I wanted to
look professional and nice for my photo! Hopefully, I pulled off that look!
As I thought about the amount
of time that I spend on choosing what to wear each morning, I realized I wasn't
focusing on the most important pieces of clothing…the armor of God! As I
start each morning, I need to prepare for that day not only by putting on my
physical clothing, but by putting on my spiritual clothing as well!
God's word says…Therefore, put

Oh, how I need to dress myself
appropriately each day. We have no idea what obstacles or challenges we
may face each day. I desire to be fully prepared when evil comes my way,
allowing me to stand me firmly on solid ground.
I need to be prepared to
respond to situations with the belt of truth buckled around my waist, while
wearing the breastplate of righteousness.
I want my feet fitted with the
gospel of peace as I walk out the door, reflecting that peace to every
individual I encounter. I desire to leave my home carrying my shield of
faith, willing to share my faith with others who cross my path.
And what a blessing it is to
wear helmet of salvation! And may I always…always…. carry the sword of
the Spirit…the word of God with me! May God's word guide and lead me each
and every day!
Yes, I still want to look nice
as I head out the door, but more importantly, I know the importance of dressing
spiritually each morning.
Dear Heavenly Father…. thank
you for providing us with the full armor of God! I pray that each of us
starts each morning dressing appropriately for the day, but also by putting on
the full armor of God, so that we may stand our ground when evil comes our way!
