He made the moon to mark the
seasons, and the sun knows when to go down…Pslam 104.19
There has been much to celebrate the
last few weeks due to numerous birth announcements! Just recently, our
dear friends' daughter was blessed with a baby girl. My daughter was blessed with a baby boy the following day, and
our youth pastor's wife gave birth to a baby boy the next day! Three
beautiful babies born in three days!
Not only have there been numerous
birth announcements within our church family, but also several co-workers have
announced the birth of precious little babies. They are quick to share
pictures of those tiny little ones as they step into my office. And of
course, I "oooh" and "awe" over every picture, rejoicing
with them as they celebrate this special occasion!!
This morning, I was blessed to see
the precious pictures of another beautiful baby girl on Facebook! Her
mommy and daddy are first-time parents and they were beaming as they held that
precious bundle of joy!
I marvel at God's masterpiece as I
view each picture or better yet…have the privilege of holding one of these
precious darlings in my arms!
I gaze at those little miracles…small
eyes and noses framed in tiny faces, wisps of hair adorning their head, chubby
little fingers squeezed into a tight fist or maybe clutching a bit of their
blanket or "lovey" and all I can do is stand in awe of what God
created!
As proud new parents, or in my case,
proud grandparents, we are excited to share the news of the birth of these
children! Their little lives are just beginning and they have so much to
look forward to!
Yet, as I think about all the lies
before them, I am reminded that many of us are looking back on years that have
passed.
As a dear friend of mine asked about
my daughter and the birth of her new child and his older siblings, she shared
with me that her elderly mother had fallen four times that day. My dear
friend's role has reversed. The dear lady that once took care of my
friend is now the one that is being taken care of by her daughter.
I was quickly reminded of how the
seasons of our lives change! Another summer has passed and fall is
beginning. Babies are born and precious saints are deal with the passing
of time.
God knew this before we were
born. His word states…He made the moon to mark the seasons, and the
sun knows when to go down…Psalm 104.19
God has a beautiful plan for our
lives and he marks those every-changing seasons with the rising and setting of
the sun and moon!
As I think about the births of all of
the precious babies the last few weeks, as well as, my dear friend who is
caring for her parents, I'm reminded that time passes quickly. I have led
a simple, but blessed life! And for the remaining seasons that I have on
this earth, I want to enjoy life…live it to the fullest, while bringing glory
and honor to God!
Dear Heavenly Father…thank you
the miracle of birth! Thank you for each and every life! May we
always stand in awe of you and the opportunity to experience new life.
May we cherish each moment, praising you in the good, as well as, difficult
times! Lord, help us to live our lives for you, bringing glory and honor
to your name.
