Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need…Psalm
142:2
For several years, a group
of individuals has met the first Sunday of the month to join together in prayer
for our teens.
This group meets each month
between 8:00 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. to pray for our teens, our pastors, the leaders
of our church, those who volunteer in various roles in our church, for
families, as well as, whatever else God lays on the hearts of those who are
praying.
This morning, there were
only two of us who were able to meet for prayer!
However, as we bowed and
lifted our hearts before the Lord, I believe we both felt an urgency to pray
that our teens would seek God daily with their whole hearts! We prayed that our teens would not only
seek God on Sunday morning, but they would seek Him every single day for the
rest of their lives.
This prayer wasn’t just for
the teens…but it was a prayer for each us! Living in today’s world, we know how desperately we need
Jesus Christ in our lives.
The enemy would love nothing
more than for us to be tempted by the things of this world instead of focusing
on God.
Scripture says…Finally, brothers, whatever is true,
whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about
such things…Philippians 4:8.
We need to focus on things
that please the Lord, and turn our backs upon the things the displease Him!
God desires for us to come
to Him with all over our cares and concerns. He desires us to seek Him for guidance…desiring Him to lead
our every step!
As I headed into church
service, my heart was still full of prayers that had just been prayed for our
teens and our church family.
During praise and worship,
they played one of my favorite songs…Lord,
I Need You…by Matt Maher.
As we continued to praise
our Heavenly Father, the words of the song rang strong in my heart! As Psalm 142:2 states…Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate
need!
Oh, how our world needs
Jesus! We need to know of his
saving grace! We need to turn our
backs upon sin and seek God like we never have before.
As the Praise and Worship
Team sang the chorus, I joined in…lifting my heart to the Lord in praise and
worship, singing:
Lord, I need you, Oh, I need you
Every
hour I need you
My
one defense, my righteousness
Oh
God, how I need you
Those words beautifully expressed
my heart this morning! Oh, how we
need you, Lord! Every hour we need
you! I don’t even want to make one
decision…take one step…without you, God!
As Pastor Brian preached, he
shared how we could worship God in every season of 2015: He shared:

Worship Participation
·
Growing and
Serving Together
·
Giving
Generously
·
Know Him through
Prayer and Scripture
·
Worship in your
Brokenness
It was though his message
was a continuation of our early Morning Prayer time!
I pray this would be the
heart of every Christian in 2015!
I pray each of us would desire to worship our Heavenly Father in every
season!! I pray each of us would draw
closer to Him this year!
Dear Heavenly Father…I continue to lift up my heart
to you, saying Lord, I need you, Oh, how I need you! Forgive me for the times I have tried to do things on my own! I don’t want to live me life that
way! I desire to live my life,
completely surrendered to you!!
Lord, I need you…every hour I need you…today and all the days of my
life!
