Sing Praises

Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King; sing praises…Psalm 47:6.

I love listening to praise and worship music!!

I listen to it on in my car when I am driving…I listen to it while I am working…and I listen to it when I am walking or riding my bike…often lifting my voice to the Lord as I walk or ride along the country roads!

And don’t you just love it when you are at a random place and suddenly notice the establishment is playing Christian music…Often I began humming along with the music or even singing right along! 

Not only do I love praise and worship, but I also wanted it to be a part of my children’s lives when they were younger. Many evenings we would spend time singing before they went to bed. 

I loved hearing their sweet voices singing…Jesus Loves Me…Jesus Loves the Little Children…The B-I-B-L-E…Deep and Wide…If Your Happy and You Know It…I’ve got the Joy, Joy, Joy Down in My Heart…and many more!

Their sweet faces would beam with joy as they sang and incorporated the motions that went with each song.  Often, they would ask to sing just one more song before bedtime!

As my children grew older, I prayed they would truly know what it meant to praise and worship the Lord.  I was blessed when I would see them in a church service or a youth function, lifting their hands to the Lord in an attitude of worship!

Now that my children are young adults, they are teaching their children to worship the Lord as well!

Once again, I am singing the sweet songs that I sung with my children…but now I am singing them with my grandchildren.  And once again, I am watching their sweet faces as they sing and act out the motions with each song! 

Scripture tells us to… Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King; sing praises…Psalm 47:6.

God loves hearing us singing songs of praise and worship to Him! 

Recently my oldest son sent me a video of his three-year old song singing.  Tears streamed down my cheeks as I heard the precious voice of my grandson singing…Holy is our God…always...always…Holy is our God!

This precious child was singing a song of praise to the Lord! 

I can only imagine how God feels when He hears the sweet voice of a child singing songs of praise!

And I can only imagine how HE loves hearing each of us singing songs of praise to Him.  How I pray each of us spends time praising and worshipping our Heavenly Father on a daily basis! 

And if you are not sure where to begin…maybe it’s simply lifting up the words of child’s song…Jesus loves me this I know…For the Bible tells me so…Little ones to Him Belong…They are weak but HE is strong…Yes, Jesus loves me…Yes, Jesus loves me…Yes, Jesus loves me…The Bible tells me so.

Dear Heavenly Father…Help us to sing praises to your Holy, Holy name!  Fill our hearts with praise and worship, encouraging us to lift our voices to you!!
