The Actual Vacation


Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever!  Amen…Ephesians 3:20.

I recently shared my excitement and anticipation of our upcoming vacation with my daughter and her family! 

I shared all of the things I was looking forward to seeing and doing on that trip!

However, each of us know that we often walk into situations with high hopes and expectations, leaving us feeling discouraged when those expectations are not met!

For example…

We could have had car trouble…(we did pick up a nail, but was back on the road within an hour)!

It could have rained all week…

The condo we rented could have been horrible...

The little ones could have been irritable and grouchy since they didn’t get their daily naps…

And lists could go on and on!

But none of those things happened!

I’m extremely blessed to share that we had an amazing trip!

We had beautiful weather!  It was sunny and warm…the condo met all of her needs…and our grandchildren did so well! 

Even little Gabe who turned 10 months old that week…. just was happy and content wherever we were.  He often took an afternoon nap in someone’s arms, which this Gammy loved when he happened to fall asleep in her arms and she could cuddle him during that time!



During our trip…. we swam in the ocean and played in the sand several days!  Seeing our young grandsons’ faces light up with pure delight was priceless! 








When we first arrived, we immediately headed to the ocean!  With no hesitation, Hudson jumped in the ocean with his clothes on!  His sweet mama had predicted he would do just that…and he did!





We tried new restaurants and ate delicious meals!




We went and got ice cream our first night there!







Papa and Gammy contacted Jake from the Neverland Pirates to let him know the boys would be visiting Destin (at least that is what Hudson thinks)!  Jake left a treasure map for the boys to follow, which led them to three treasure chests buried on the beach! 






We went to a water park, which was so much fun!  The boys loved the water park and again, it was a blessing to see their smiles and hear their giggles as the experienced this sweet time!












We went and got ice cream again!

We went to the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park and saw marine life and a dolphin show!  The boys asked lots of questions about the different sea animals and again, their faces lit up as the dolphins jumped and flipped in the air!








When we weren’t swimming in the ocean, we would head to the pool to cool off!  Our time at the pool included swim races across the pool…water gun fights…. and to Hudson’s delight…his daddy would throw him high in the air…. splashing in the water…only to come up asking to be tossed high in the air again!





And did I mention we got ice cream!  I believe we tried every ice cream shop in the area!!

We are so thankful for the wonderful week we spent with Andrew, Bekah and their three children! 

And as you can see…our vacation was even greater than I could hope or imagine!

Just as our vacation was even better than I could have imagined, God is able to do immeasurably more than we can ever imagine!

I wonder how many times I put God in a box, believing that a certain situation is hopeless just because I didn’t ask God to move in that particular situation!

How often do I fret and worry about something…instead of turning to God immediately…turning my cares and concerns over to him.

God is able to do more than we can ask or imagine!  I love that!

God can do things…move in situations…answer prayers…in ways that I would never think of or imagine!

God loves us and He desires to pour out his love upon his children!

As we look forward and anticipate the upcoming weeks…whether is just a routine week…or a week filled with fun activities…let’s look forward to the week…trusting and believing that God can and will do more than we can ever imagine!

Dear Heavenly Father…thank you for a week of memories shared with our sweet with family…for a week of lots of fun!  Thank you Lord that you allowed us to have a better time than we could have even imagined!  And Lord…help us to remember that in all seasons of our lives…we need to trust you for all things!
