Week(s) Prior to a Vacation

While we wait for the blessed hope – the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ…Titus 2:13.

Several weeks before a planned vacation, I begin to get excited!  I can hardly wait for the departure date to arrive!

To make sure I am ready, I make lists!

A shopping list...

A to-do list…

A packing list…

I begin thinking about the fun activities that we will be doing on our trip!

Often, I will search the Internet…looking for different restaurants to try…places to visit…activities that our family might like to do…the “must sees” in that area!

This year we are heading to Destin, Florida!

Beach vacations are my favorite!

I love the ocean…love the beach…love spending time in the sun!

As I close my eyes…I can imagine the ocean breeze blowing through my hair…the warmth of the sun on my skin…and the sand between my toes!

I can picture the beach dotted with brightly umbrellas up and down the coast!

I can picture children building sand castles…

Young couples holding hands as they stroll along the beach…discussing what the future holds for them…

Elderly couples…strolling a little more slowly…cherishing the numerous memories that they have made over the years…

Young family’s enjoying picnic lunches…

Grandparents smiling as they gaze upon their grandchildren splashing in the waves…

And I can picture the stunning sunrises and amazing sunsets…

As I continue to dream…I can hear the incoming waves hitting the shore…

Seagulls squawking as they fly overhead…

Children laughing…

Dogs barking as they run up and down the shoreline…

And this year…I am picturing time with my daughter and her family!

They invited us to join them, so I am looking forward to sharing this time with them and seeing my three, young grandsons experience the sandy beaches and the ocean for the first time!

And though I’m excited to share this time with them at one of my favorite places, I am reminded that some day I will be sharing eternity with them and the rest of my children and their families.

God’s word says… While we wait for the blessed hope – the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ…Titus 2:13.

Just as I look expectantly and can hardly wait for our time to leave on a vacation…I can hardly wait for the glorious appearing of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Just as I plan and prepare for a trip…I need to prepare for Christ’s return!

Am I ready?

Are you ready?

Do you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins…for my sins…for the sins of this world?

Do you believe that if you confess with your mouth that you are sinner…ask Jesus to forgive your sins and to come into your heart as Lord and Savior…that you will be saved?

If so, are you sharing this good news with others?  Do you tell others how much Jesus loves you…loves them…loves all of us!

God’s word says that no one except our Heavenly Father knows when Christ will return…I want to be ready!  I want my family and loved ones to be ready!

And I want you to be ready too!

Sometimes waiting can be hard…but you don’t have to wait to ask Jesus Christ into your hearts…He loves you so much!

Dear Heavenly Father…thank you for anticipation of waiting for fun things…such as vacations and fun times with family!  But more importantly…thank you for the blessed hope that someday your son, Jesus Christ, will return!  May each of us anticipate and prepare for His glorious appearing!!
