This morning I sat very still as our choir
sang…literally getting lost in the words of the song!
I closed my eyes and just listened…allowing the
words to penetrate my heart!
And as I quietly sat there, a very familiar
picture came to my mind…
It was a picture of two women…one brunette and
one blonde…joined together in prayer…praying and interceding for their
children…their families…their church…and whatever else God laid on their heart
during their time of prayer together!
I know them well!
You see…several years ago, God brought two moms
together to pray for their children!
At that time our children were in grade school,
junior high and high school, so we had plenty to keep us on our knees!
During those times of prayer, we prayed for a
variety of things for our children…
We prayed for their relationships…fervent
prayers were lifted for different relationships our children were involved in
throughout the years!
Friendships…
Trials they were facing…
Broken hearts…
When they were away at different camps…
On mission trips…
When they started driving…
As they played different sports…
Choosing a college…
The list was endless (and still is today)!
I smile as I think about the variety of places that
dear friend and I met to pray…
In our cars…
At church…
Various parking lots throughout town…
Park benches…
Ball diamond bleachers…
At ball diamonds (and various sporting events)…
Pilling Chapel at Millikin University…
While we walked…
And my favorite place…one where we often met to
pray…was Fairview Park.
We spent many lunch hours at that park!
I have no idea how many hours were spent,
sitting at a picnic table as we bowed our heads and prayed!
Though I have no idea what God saw or thought
during that time, I know HE was with us!
I know we often felt His presence and
peace!
And though the situations we were praying for
at that particular moment might not have changed by the end of our prayer…
However, what did change...was us!
Each of us knew that God had been there with
us…sitting at the picnic table with his arms wrapped around us!
Many times He was there to wipe our tears away!
And many times HE interceded for us when we had
no words to pray!
And HE encouraged us to press on…to continue to
pray…because our prayers made a difference!
And they did!
We saw God move in mighty and powerful ways!
We experienced the love and faithfulness that
our Heavenly Father has for his children!
And today…more than ever…we continue to be on
our knees…praying…interceding…and asking God to hear our prayers!
So this morning, the words of this song spoke
to my heart…because I know that somebody is praying me (and you) through!
I hope these words bless you too!
Pressing over me like a
big blue sky
I know someone has me on
their heart tonight
That's why I know it's
gonna be alright
'Cause somebody's praying
me through
Somebody's praying me
through
It may be my Mother, it
might be my Dad
Or an old friend I've
forgot I had
But whoever it is I'm so
glad that
Somebody's praying me
through
Somebody's praying me
through
Through the tears,
through the rain
Through the sorrow,
through the pain
It keeps bringing me
through
Over and over again
So when you're drowning
in a sea of hurt
And it feels like life
couldn't get any worse
There's a blessing
waiting to push back the curse
'Cause somebody's praying
you through
Somebody's praying you
through
Someone got down on their
knees and prayed for me
Somebody's, somebody's
praying you through
Somebody’s Praying Me Through

Dear Heavenly Father…thank you the
moms, dads, grandparents, family members, friends…the many, many prayer
warriors...who are even at this moment…on their knees praying somebody
through!
