Let's talk about...

I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete. 2 John 1:12

"Let's talk about…" is often a phrase I hear from my oldest grandson, Hudson!

Over the last few years, I have heard Hudson say…"Let's talk about Monster's Inc., Frozen, Toy Story" or the numerous other Disney movies that we have watched together.

And trust me, we discussed the popular movie "Frozen" in great detail, including but not limited to the songs that were sung throughout the movie, how many carrots Sven ate, all of the snow Elsa made, Olaf's carrot nose, and so much more!!

And it's not just Disney movies that Hudson likes to discuss.  Hudson has said to me…"Let's talk about what we did last night during my sleep over.  Let's talk about our trip to the zoo.  Let's talk about our picnic at the park.  Let's talk about what we did at the Children's museum.  Let's talk about the time Hudson and Graham painted each other homemade paint.  Let's talk about the time we went to the water park.  The list is endless!

Most recently, Hudson has said… "Let's talk about fall"!  "What do you like to do in the fall, Gammy"?  And our conversation then proceeded to discuss going to the pumpkin patch and remembering our trip to the pumpkin patch last year, with Graham and his family…decorating for fall…trick-or-treating and what everyone is going to dress up as…and all of the other fun things that you get to do during this season!

These precious conversations can take place anytime…anywhere!!  We have chatted in the morning while I'm getting ready for work!  We have had these conversations in the car, while going on walks, and these detailed conversations have even taken during numerous lunches and dinners!

I love the interaction we have as we discuss what happened in a movie or the fun time we had during a Gammy/Hudson time together!  And I love that Hudson wants to visit with me as we share and discuss various topics!

God's word states…I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.2 John 1:12.

I love receiving sweet notes from family and friends, but how precious the time is when you get to talk face to face with loved ones!  And that is exactly what Hudson and I do…we talk face to face, sharing our favorite part in a movie…the fun we had at a particular event...what we like to do during a certain season of the year!  Sharing these moments with him are precious and bring me great joy!

Just as I love chatting with my darling grandson, I love chatting and sharing my heart with the Lord.  I love the intimate moments that I spend with my Heavenly Father, knowing that some day I will get to talk to my Father face to face!

Though I long to visit with my grandsons, how much more should I long to spend time visiting with my Heavenly Father!  He loves hearing from me just as much as I love hearing from my children and grandchildren.

So, take time today to visit with your Heavenly Father, possibly beginning your conversation with him by saying…."Let's talk about."

Dear Heavenly Father...thank you that you desire to spend time with us…to listen to us...to have a conversation with us!  How I pray that each of us will be encouraged to talk to you...longing to spend precious time with you!  And how fortunate that these conversations can take place anytime...anywhere...you are always available and ready to spend time with us!
